Woodstove Replacement
February 3, 2010
A grant of $250 or more may be available to help you replace a wood stove--which is in use and does not meet EPA emission standards--with a new more-efficient and lower-emission heating appliance. This grant program is supported in part by the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine and the BVLD Airshed Management Society.
An exchange must take place. All wood stoves built before 1990, and most wood stoves and inserts built before 1994, are eligible for a replacement grant. Your new appliance can be any new clean-burning heat source, including: a pellet stove; an EPA certified wood stove; an electric or gas furnace; or a geothermal system.
Details are provided in the Kitimat-Stikine BVLD brochure [PDF - 168 KB] or at http://www.cleanair.ca/ This grant program will end when funds are fully-committed or 30 April 2010, whichever comes first.
