Kitimat is home to twenty-two adventure parks [PDF - 181 KB], including seven school facilities and Lions Park at Tamitik. The District of Kitimat, with assistance from various neighbourhood committees, is completing a nine-year program to replace out-of-date playground equipment with new modern structures. Currently the municipality boasts eleven refurbished playgrounds.

Kitimat's pristine geography ensures there are many scenic hiking trails [PDF - 282 KB], biking trails and pedestrian pathways. The community is uniquely connected with a series of paths through green spaces, situated to eliminate excessive crossing of major streets.
